Please join us for the LAST DANCE of the 2009 year!! Next Friday, Dec. 18th from 6:00 to 8:00. These are new times based on everyone’s busy holiday schedules. The dance is sponsored by the Eighth Grade and we would love to see all our 6th and 7th grade friends join us for a wonderful dance!! This will be a great way to get ready for our holiday vacation by spending time with friends and having a good time. Tickets will be pre-sold at lunch time on Friday. Thanks so much!!

DECEMBER 15th
Do you remember December 15th??? If you want to know about this date, ask Abby Mattingly or Claire Sorois in the 8th grade wing!!

CHORUS
Please don’t forget we have rehearsal after school on Monday until 4:00. If you can’t make it you need to let Ms. Wheeler know.

SPRING HARBOR HOSPITAL
Spring Harbor Hospital Stocking Drive starts Monday, please help to support the adolescents at the hospital during the holiday season by bringing in gifts for your homeroom stockings. A list has been posted with each stocking. Stockings will be collected next Friday.

ROBOTICS COMPETITION
Gorham Middle School will be sending five students to compete in a Robotics Competition in Augusta this weekend. After many weeks of computer programming and lots of practice, the team is ready to represent Gorham in this statewide contest. Good luck to Colin Gotchlich, Coleman Dowdle, Gareth Packard, Elliott Twilley, and Joseph Martin.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
The 7th Grade Lady Rams defeated Westbrook 35 to 28. The top scorer of the game was MacKenzie Bowers scoring 8 points, followed by Abby Hamilton with 6, Jaymie Seneca and Kate Hopkins with 5. Darcie Brown had 4, Ashley Woodbury with 3 and Aliza Jordan and kayli Leavitt both with 2 points. Awesome game ladies! Practice tonight at 2:30!

The 8th Grade girls basketball team dominated the court against Westbrook, the final score being almost double the opposing team at 41 to 24. Gorham had control of the ball almost all the game. Sam Robinson and Meghan Cushing were two of the many girls, stealing the ball from Westbrook’s hands. Top scorers this game were Katie Tucker and Lindsey Babcock.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Last night the 7th grade boy’s basketball team defeated Wescott Middle School 43 to 28. Chandler Reagan and Jackson Taylor anchored the Rams stifling press to force turnover after turnover on the way to a 16 point first half lead. After letting the lead slip to start the second half, the Rams took back control led by a game high 12 points from Zach Mills. Cody Rioux dominated the boards and chipped in with 10 points. Way to go Rams and good luck on Monday when you travel to Lyman Moore Middle School.

We received notice this morning that H1N1 vaccine will be delivered to us later this week. We will most likely receive both nasal mist and injections. We will do another clinic in the district next Monday, December 14, 2009 for all K-12 students according to the schedule below.

Please note that the injectable form of this vaccine will most likely contain the preservative Thimerisol. If your child medically requires an injection and you do not wish for your child to receive vaccine containing Thimerisol then you should not sign up for this clinic. If your child is under age 10 and received H1N1 vaccine during our November 2-3 or November 19th clinics, they require a second dose and you need to bring them to the December 14th clinic. Children age 10 and older do not require a second dose of H1N1. If your child is 10 or older and received vaccine in November they are complete for this year and you do not need to return a consent form. You should send a completed form to us only if a second dose is required or if this will be the first time your child is receiving the H1N1 vaccine.

GHS students should attend the clinic at GHS auditorium, December 14, 2009, between 10:00-1:00 (parents are recommended to attend but not required)

K-8 students should attend the clinic at GHS auditorium, December 14, 2009, between 2:00-5:30 and parents are required to attend with the child or another adult designated by the parent. If a parent is sending someone else to attend with their child, please be sure the consent form is completely filled out and signed in ink.
