Mandatory parent orientations will be held on September 8th and 9th in the GMS Auditorium for parents who want their 7th or 8th grader to take the MLTI laptop home this year. Parents can attend either session, both will be from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Attendance last year will not qualify your child to take a laptop home this year.
We recommend two rules for MLTI laptop use at home.
1. The laptop is used only for homework research & products.
2. Laptop use should be supervised by an adult at all times.
Questions for your family to discuss:
1. How does your child’s cyber identity affect your entire family’s privacy?
2. How permanent is your son or daughter’s cyber trail?
3. How can a student “own” a copyright?
4. How can a student respect web-info copyright?

NOTE: Cyber safety is on the agenda at the PIE meeting, to be held in the GMS library on 9-18-08, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.
GMS Announcements, Thursday, August 28, 2008
The cafeteria is serving breakfast daily. If you want breakfast, you must enter the cafeteria right as you arrive off the bus. Do not go to your locker first.
The first meeting for band students, those who already play in the band, and those interested in signing up for the first time, will be held next Wednesday during tutorial. Students need to eat first lunch and be in the band room for 11:15. 7th & 8th grade students get your lunch and bring it to the band room.
Chorus sign up will be on Tuesday of next week. All 6th, 7th & 8th graders are welcome. We have a lot of fun events in Chorus again this year, so be sure to join.
All 8th grade boys interested in trying out for this year’s soccer team should attend an informational meeting today at 11:50 in Mr. Mitchell’s room.
COME JOIN THE CRAFT CLUB! We will meet 2 times a month on Tuesdays beginning in September. Come learn to make jewelry, to do decorative painting, crocheting, quilting, card making, bookmark making, weaving, and fashion design. A sign up sheet is on the cafeteria wall.
Find your creative self! If you have any questions, see Mr. Carpenter.
